About

David Earl Jones works in painting and sculpture. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Southern Indiana and an Associate of Science from Ivy Tech, both in art. Before and alongside his art practice, he trained as a journeyman engineering model maker at Whirlpool Corporation and worked for decades as a licensed general contractor.

This background shaped his approach to craft: precise, patient, and built to last. He brings a maker's discipline to every piece—an understanding that good work requires time, revision, and structural integrity.

Over a lifetime, he has developed a visual language that inhabits the space between the familiar and the strange. His creatures feel alive without being identifiable. His forms suggest biology, architecture, and something older than either.

The work moves between warmth and unease. Some pieces invite you in. Others hold you at a distance. This tension is deliberate—a reflection of sustained attention to the way organic systems can feel both inviting and unsettling.
